Please read these Terms of Use (the "Terms") carefully. When you create a carbometria account, you accept the Terms by tapping "Sign up" after reading the statement shown immediately above the "Sign up" button on the registration screen. If you do not accept the Terms, please do not create an account.
How this contract is made and kept#
This section gives the information that Article 3 of Turkish Law No. 6563 on the Regulation of Electronic Commerce requires to be provided before a contract is made. Information about the service provider is in clause 1.
- Steps to make the contract: (1) On the registration screen of the App, you enter your name, email address, password, country of residence and language. (2) You see the statement immediately above the "Sign up" button and the link to these Terms. (3) By tapping "Sign up", you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and accept these Terms. (4) Your account is created, and the contract is made, when you enter in the App the verification code sent to your email address.
- How the text is kept and how you can access it later: The version number of the Terms you accepted, the language in which you accepted them, the time of acceptance, your account ID, your declaration that you are at least 13 years old and the version of the Privacy Notice shown to you are kept as an acceptance record. 1. The parties#
These Terms set out the rights and obligations relating to the use of carbometria between Enerwise, whose details are given below, and the user who creates an account in the carbometria app (the "User", "you"). Service provider information (Article 3 of Law No. 6563):

2. Definitions#
- carbometria or the App: the mobile app provided by Enerwise on iOS, iPadOS and Android for estimating an individual's carbon footprint, together with the server-side services of the app.
- Account: the personal user account you create with your email address and password in order to use carbometria.
- Country and Preferences: the country of residence, distance unit, spending currency and language you select in the App.
- User Data: the travel, home energy and annual review information you enter in the App, your Country and Preferences, and the results calculated from them.
- Result: the carbon footprint estimates, reports and comparisons that carbometria calculates from User Data.
- Points, Tasks and Badges: game elements with no monetary value, used to show your progress in the App.
- Consumer: an individual who uses carbometria for purposes outside their trade, business or profession.

3. The service#
3.1. carbometria helps you estimate your personal carbon footprint, follow how it changes over time and track your progress with tasks and badges, using your daily travel entries, your household electricity and natural gas use and your annual lifestyle information. The App includes reminders to make entries, which are scheduled locally on your device.
3.2. carbometria is offered in English and Turkish in the countries where the App Store and Google Play make it available. The App opens in the language of your device, and you can change the language in the App settings.
3.3. carbometria is free of charge. There are no in-app purchases or ads. If a paid feature is ever introduced, no fee will be charged unless you have been clearly informed about that feature and have separately agreed to pay.
3.4. To use carbometria you need an internet connection and a supported operating system version (minimum iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4 and Android 7.0). For security or compatibility reasons, older versions of the App may stop working and you may be asked to update.
3.5. You select your country of residence when you first use the App; the App suggests a country based on your device's region setting, but you confirm the choice. The country you select is used to choose the emission factors used in your calculations and to label your results (clause 6.1). You also choose the distance unit (kilometers or miles) and the spending currency. You can change these choices in the App settings.
4. Your account#
4.1. Age limit: You must be at least 13 years old to use carbometria and create an account. By tapping "Sign up", you confirm that you meet this requirement. Children under 13 may not use carbometria; if we find that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it after notifying the registered email address, and the data linked to the account will be deleted within the periods set out in the Privacy Policy.
Users aged 13 to 17: If you are under 18, we expect you to use carbometria with the knowledge of your parent or guardian. Your parent or guardian may decide not to approve these Terms; in that case, they can ask for your account to be deleted, and the account will be deleted as described in the "Request by a parent or guardian" section of the account deletion page: https:/
4.2. Accurate information: When you create an account, you must give a genuine name and an email address that belongs to you and that you can access, and you must select your country of residence correctly. Your account becomes active once your email address is verified.
4.3. Personal use: Your account is personal. It may not be transferred, sold or made available to anyone else. Each person may open only one account.
4.4. Password security: You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity carried out through your account. If you suspect unauthorized use of your account, you should change your password immediately and let us know at info@enerwisetech.com. You will not be held responsible for unauthorized use that is not caused by you and that results from Enerwise failing to meet its security obligations.
5. Your obligations#
When using carbometria, you agree that:
a) you will use the App only for personal, non-commercial purposes and in accordance with these Terms and applicable law; b) you will not impersonate another person, use someone else's account or enter another person's personal data in the App without their knowledge and a legal basis; c) you will not post content in the feedback form or in correspondence that is unlawful, insulting or infringes the rights of others, and you will not share special categories of personal data about yourself, such as information about your health, religion or beliefs; d) you will not attempt to compromise the security of the App or our servers, disrupt their operation or overload them, and you will not access the App with robots, scrapers or similar automated tools; e) except where expressly permitted by law, you will not copy, modify, reverse engineer or attempt to access the source code of the App, or create derivative works based on it; f) you will not abuse the points, tasks or badges system with misleading entries or technical tricks.
6. Results are indicative#
6.1. An estimate, not a measurement: carbometria Results are indicative estimates, calculated by multiplying the information you enter by publicly available emission factors. The following emission factors are used: for electricity used in Türkiye, factors published by the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (ETKB) (the 9.2% transmission and distribution losses are shown on a separate line); for electricity used outside Türkiye, Ember's yearly lifecycle emissions intensity data; for other categories, the greenhouse gas conversion factors published by the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) (also known as the Defra conversion factors), sources from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and other publicly available official and scientific sources. For electricity outside Türkiye, the Türkiye factor is not used: the Ember country value is used, otherwise the regional average, otherwise the world average; the level used is stated in the result, and the result is labeled "assumption" when a regional or world average is used. This data is based on generation, does not fully reflect imports and exports, and does not include transmission and distribution losses. For natural gas outside Türkiye, Türkiye's gas composition is assumed; for car fuel outside the UK, 100% mineral fuel is assumed for diesel and petrol litres because no country biofuel blend data is available; representative distances are used for flights, a low leak rate for air conditioning and a global estimate for diet; some factors are UK (Defra) sourced or approximate. Global warming potential (GWP) values for refrigerants come from the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6); other factors use the GWP basis of their own source: DESNZ (Defra) factors are mostly based on AR5, and Ember electricity data uses a 100-year GWP of 21 for methane. Where no data specific to your country is available for a category, factors from other countries or average assumptions may be used. Spending-based items, long-lasting products, parcels, household waste, ferries, plug-in hybrid use entered as distance and hotel stays in countries not on the list are not calculated yet; these items are not counted as zero.
6.2. Not certified: Results have not been verified or certified by an independent body and do not claim to conform to any greenhouse gas accounting standard.
6.3. Limits on use: Results are provided only for personal information and awareness. You may not use Results:
- in corporate sustainability, greenhouse gas or climate reporting,
- in carbon offsetting or carbon credit calculations,
- in environmental claims about products, services, people or organizations, such as "carbon neutral" or "eco-friendly" (green claims),
- in official, administrative or legal declarations.
Subject to clause 11.3, Enerwise is not liable for any consequences of using Results for these purposes.
6.4. Accuracy: The accuracy of Results depends on the accuracy and completeness of the information you enter and of the country, unit and currency you select. Categories you leave blank may be left out of the calculation or estimated using average assumptions; the App tells you when this is the case.
6.5. Changes in method: Emission factors and the calculation method may change as scientific sources are updated. For each entry, the factor for the year of the entry is used, otherwise the nearest earlier year (otherwise a later year), and the result states when a different year was used. The factor used and its version are stored; a new factor version does not change your past results unless you ask for it. After a change of country, the results of your past entries may not be recalculated. The method and sources used are explained in the "Calculation Method and Sources" section of the App.
6.6. Not advice: Results and any suggestions in the App are not financial, legal, health or nutritional advice.
7. Points, tasks and badges#
7.1. Points, tasks and badges are only a way of showing your progress in the App. They have no monetary value. They cannot be exchanged for money, gifts, discounts or any other benefit, cannot be transferred and do not represent any savings.
7.2. Enerwise may change the rules for points and tasks to improve the service. Such changes will not retroactively remove badges you have already earned. However, points and badges awarded in error or obtained in breach of clause 5(f) may be corrected.
8. Intellectual property#
8.1. The carbometria app, its interface, design, software, text, images, the "carbometria" name and logo and the calculation model belong to Enerwise or its licensors and are protected under Turkish Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works and Industrial Property Law No. 6769.
8.2. Provided that you comply with these Terms, Enerwise grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use carbometria on your own devices for personal, non-commercial purposes. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
8.3. The emission factors and source data used are subject to the license terms of the relevant public bodies and publishers. Sources are cited in the App. Ember's yearly electricity data is used under the CC BY 4.0 licence; the attribution is given in the App and on the website. UK DESNZ conversion factors contain public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0 (https:/
8.4. Your User Data belongs to you. Enerwise uses your User Data only to provide the service to you and for the purposes described in the Privacy Policy.
8.5. We may use suggestions you send through the feedback form to improve the App without any obligation to you. Any personal data in your feedback is subject to the Privacy Policy.

10. Availability of the service and changes#
10.1. Enerwise makes reasonable efforts to provide carbometria with due care and without interruption. Temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, updates, security measures, internet infrastructure problems or force majeure. We will announce planned maintenance in advance wherever possible.
10.2. carbometria's features may change to improve the service, comply with the law or increase security. We will tell you in advance about any change that significantly restricts the core service (recording and calculating your carbon footprint).
10.3. If Enerwise decides to discontinue the carbometria service entirely, it will notify you in the App and by email at least 30 days in advance. During this period you can exercise your rights in relation to your data. After the service ends, your data will be deleted within the periods set out in the Privacy Policy.
11. Liability#
11.1. carbometria is provided free of charge and is indicative in nature, as explained in clause 6. Enerwise's liability is assessed under Article 114 of the Turkish Code of Obligations, taking into account that the service is free.
11.2. To the extent permitted by law, Enerwise is not liable for loss or damage arising from: a) the use of Results for the purposes listed in clause 6.3; b) differences in calculations caused by incomplete or incorrect information you enter or by an incorrect country, unit or currency you select; c) interruptions caused by your device, your internet connection or third-party services outside Enerwise's control; d) force majeure (such as natural disasters, epidemics, war, cyberattacks, widespread infrastructure failures, decisions of public authorities and similar events).
11.3. The limitations above do not apply to loss or damage caused by Enerwise's intent or gross negligence, to loss or damage relating to life or physical integrity, to loss or damage arising from the unlawful processing of personal data, or to your rights under mandatory law, in particular Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the provisions of the law of the country of your habitual residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement.
12. Deleting your account and ending the contract#
12.1. By you: You can end this contract at any time, without giving a reason and at no cost, by deleting your account. You can delete your account in the App (Profile > Delete account) or by writing to info@enerwisetech.com from your registered email address. If you delete your account in the App, access is closed as soon as you confirm; if you send a request by email, access is closed once we have verified that the request comes from you. 12.2. By Enerwise: If you materially breach these Terms (for example, by breaching your obligations under clause 5, putting system security at risk or using someone else's account) or use the App unlawfully, Enerwise may suspend your account or terminate the contract by notifying you of the reasons by email. You may object by writing to info@enerwisetech.com within 15 days of the notice. In urgent situations affecting system security, suspension may take effect without prior notice; in that case, we will notify you as soon as possible.
12.3. Inactive accounts: Accounts that have not been used for a long time may be deleted once the period set out in the Privacy Policy has passed and after advance notice by email.
12.4. Consequences: However the contract ends, access to your account is closed. Your data is deleted from our servers within 30 days of the time access is closed, and from backups at the end of the backup cycle. Some records, such as security and error logs and activity and usage logs, are kept for the periods set out in the Privacy Policy and then deleted. Deleted accounts and data cannot be restored. Uninstalling the App from your device does not delete your account.
13. Changes to these Terms#
13.1. We may update these Terms only because of changes in the law, security requirements or changes to the features of the service. The current version is always published in English and Turkish at https:/
13.2. We will notify you in the App and by email, in the language you have chosen, at least 15 days before any change that significantly affects your rights or obligations takes effect, and we will ask for your agreement to such changes in the App. If you do not accept the changes, you can delete your account free of charge and without any obligation.
13.3. Changes that do not affect your rights, such as corrections of typing errors, clarifications or updates to contact details, take effect on publication.
13.4. Changes do not apply retroactively.
14. Notices#
Notices to you are sent to the email address registered to your account or in the App, in the language you have chosen. You are responsible for keeping your email address up to date. You can use the contact details in clause 1 to send notices to us.
15. App store terms#
15.1. If you download carbometria from the App Store or Google Play, the store's own terms of use also apply. If these Terms conflict with the store's terms, the store's usage rules take precedence.
15.2. Additional terms relating to Apple: a) These Terms are concluded only between you and Enerwise, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Enerwise, not Apple, is solely responsible for carbometria and its content. b) The right granted to you is a right to use carbometria on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the usage rules in the App Store Terms of Service. c) Enerwise is solely responsible for maintenance and support of carbometria; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. d) If carbometria fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple; because carbometria is free of charge, Apple has no refund or other warranty obligation. e) Enerwise, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to carbometria, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation. f) Enerwise, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of any claim that carbometria infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. g) To the extent applicable, you represent that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. h) You must comply with applicable third-party terms, such as those of your mobile data provider, when using carbometria. i) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
16. Governing law and disputes#
16.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
16.2. Mandatory consumer rights: If you are a Consumer, the choice of law in clause 16.1 does not deprive you of the protection given to you by the provisions of the law of the country of your habitual residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement. Where those provisions give you more protection than Turkish law, they apply to that extent.
16.3. Consumers in Türkiye: Consumers resident in Türkiye may, in disputes arising from carbometria and in accordance with Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and related legislation, apply:
- to the consumer arbitration committee in their place of residence or where the consumer transaction took place, within the monetary limits announced each year by the Ministry of Trade (also through the Consumer Information System (TÜBİS) on e-Devlet);
- for disputes above those limits, after mediation where mediation is required by law as a precondition for bringing proceedings, to the consumer court in their place of residence or where the consumer transaction took place.
16.4. Consumers in the European Union and other countries: Consumers domiciled in the European Union may bring proceedings against Enerwise in disputes arising from carbometria in the courts of the place where they are domiciled, and Enerwise may bring proceedings against such consumers only in the courts of the member state in which the consumer is domiciled. Consumers resident in the United Kingdom and in other countries keep any right they have under the law of their country to go to the competent courts or dispute resolution bodies there.
16.5. Jurisdiction: These Terms do not specify any place of jurisdiction for Consumers; for Consumers, jurisdiction is determined by the rules in clauses 16.3 and 16.4. For disputes with users who are not Consumers, the courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul (Anadolu) have jurisdiction, provided that the conditions for a jurisdiction agreement under Article 17 of the Turkish Code of Civil Procedure No. 6100 are met.
16.6. Electronic records in Enerwise's systems may be used as evidence in disputes. Your right to submit any other evidence is not affected.
16.7. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits your rights described in clauses 16.2 to 16.4.
17. General#
17.1. Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is not affected.
17.2. Assignment: In the event of a merger, demerger or transfer of business, Enerwise may transfer its rights and obligations under this contract to its successor, provided that this does not reduce your rights and that you are notified in advance. In that case, you keep the right to end the contract by deleting your account.
17.3. Language: These Terms are published in English and Turkish. For Consumers, the language version they accepted governs; if the language versions conflict, the interpretation more favorable to the Consumer applies. This rule does not affect the provisions of the law of the country of your habitual residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement, referred to in clause 16.2.
17.4. Entire agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding the use of carbometria. The Privacy Policy and the KVKK Privacy Notice are provided for information and do not form part of this contract.
